TICKETSSM

The trafficking of fraudulent airline travel documents costs the industry millions of dollars a year. ARINC's solution: TICKETSSM—a master database that enables member airlines to list lost, stolen, and fraudulent airline documents. TICKETS benefits airlines, computerized reservation systems, travel agents (through the Airlines Reporting Corporation or IATA Billing and Settlement Plan), or any other party issuing or honoring airline documents by enabling these parties to instantaneously check documents when someone attempts to use them. If the document is listed, it can be immediately confiscated.

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) recognizes TICKETS as the only official industry database for listing lost or stolen airline documents. And the service is accessible from any airline terminal, anywhere in the world. Two types of services are provided: Document Listing and Inquiry Access.

Document Listing

Subscribing airlines directly list lost, stolen, or counterfeit tickets, miscellaneous charges orders (MCOs), and multiple purpose documents (MPDs) in the TICKETS database via the airlines' communication networks. Entries are retained indefinitely. However, subscribers can change or delete information, as appropriate. Security features ensure unauthorized changes are not made. All entries and changes are automatically acknowledged by a TICKETS confirmation message. Subscribers can also list their neutral stock by stock control or document number.

Inquiry Access

  • Online Inquiry—Subscribers can request document information using the online inquiry feature and receive a response within seconds. All "hits" are accompanied by an explanation as to whether the document was lost or stolen, and if additional background details are available. This additional material is provided upon submittal of a security inquiry request.
  • Online Mirrored Database—This option is ideal for airlines that provide systems for automated ticket sale and reissue, passenger check-in, and interline ticket accounting. A mirrored TICKETS database, updated in real time, is loaded into the subscriber's computer system, providing the latest information at the same time TICKETS receives it.
  • Tape Mirrored Database—Airlines receive a complete, updated copy of the TICKETS database every two weeks.
  • Loss Prevention Bulletin—Published every four weeks and available in hard copy and magnetic media, the bulletin provides a subset of the TICKETS database, allowing subscribers to quickly check whether a document has been recently listed.

When tied into an airline's reservation system, TICKETS can automatically check documents for legitimacy when they're presented for use. To receive more information about TICKETS, please complete our information request form.

Did You Know

Industry resolutions effective in 1990 specify that an airline entering lost or stolen airline ticket numbers into the ARINC TICKETS database is not financially responsible in the interline settlement process to an airline that accepts that document. The resolutions also specify that an airline will be credited for documents that it accepts, as long as those documents have not been listed in the TICKETS service database.
