Materials and Process Engineering
ARINC had an unusual challenge: To develop eddy current procedures
for inspection and detection of hidden corrosion in KC-135
aircraft to military standards, using commercially available
equipment. After researching various sources, developing
test standards, and evaluating results, ARINC provided the
U.S. Air Force with the most reliable detection capability
available.
ARINC's materials and process engineering services include
management, technical, and engineering support for all
aspects of Department of Defense and commercial aircraft
maintenance, repair, and overhaul operations. From developing
specialized inspection and coating processes to creating
novel ways to repair exotic materials, our reach comprises
a full range of capabilities.
As a result, you're able to extend the life of your aircraft
systems and equipment, saving on capital expenditures.
You can reduce the need for unplanned maintenance, lower
their production flow days, improve the overall safety
and reliability of your systems, and use commercially
available inspection equipment—as opposed to developing
new, expensive technologies—to reduce operating and
manufacturing costs.
One key to our success: We work closely with our customers
to ensure that their needs are clearly identified and
their input is incorporated every step of the way. We'll
recommend process improvements and, if requested, implement
required changes.
Our areas of expertise include:
- Nondestructive inspection
- Paint and coating systems
- Plasma and flame spray systems
- Mechanical and environmental testing of materials
- Metallurgical analysis
- Forensic failure analysis
