Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
ARINC provides management, technical, and engineering support
to all areas of DoD and commercial aircraft maintenance, repair,
and overhaul (MRO) operations. Our capability encompasses everything
from facility planning, design, and activation to machine and
tooling operation, design, and fabrication. Working closely with
our clients, we define requirements, develop detailed plans, design
solutions and, if requested, implement required changes—no
matter how big the challenge.
So when the U.S. Air Force decided to move its F100 engine overhaul
facility to its Oklahoma City Air Logistics Center, ARINC was
ready to help. Our scope was large—support new-depot activation,
including the design, development, and remanufacture of up to
2,000 tools to be used at the facility. These ranged from simple
hold-down fixtures to complex engine test-cell adapters. One of
the major tasks was to make sure that all of the new and modified
equipment worked together perfectly. Using advanced interoperability-engineering
techniques, we developed the processes and equipment necessary
to get the job done.
Another example: ARINC designed and built a number of state-of-the-art
engine maintenance facilities for the U.S. Air Force. These include
an acid-etch facility that prepares gas turbine engine components
for fluorescent-penetrant inspection and an engine component brazing
facility, where government personnel routinely perform critical
brazing operations using precious metals.
Our overall areas of expertise include:
- Facility planning, design, and implementation
- Machine and equipment modernization
- Tooling design and manufacture
- Safety and environmental compliance assessment
- Interoperability engineering
