Computed Radiography Process Control Standard (CRPCS)

X-ray technology is moving into the digital age. With Computed Radiography (CR) emerging to replace traditional film x-rays, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) is taking advantage of this recent nondestructive inspection (NDI) innovation—enhancing the monitoring and analysis of aircraft structural integrity.

Developing standards that ensure proper functioning of the CR hardware is an absolute necessity for this new technology. When the United States Air Force needed a process control standard, they turned to ARINC to develop the CRPCS. With all nondestructive inspection labs requiring this process control to operate the new technology, we accepted the challenge—as we have for over 50 years—of meeting the high standards of the DoD.

The CRPCS—using spacing, thickness, and system resolution analysis—tests imaging accuracy on a daily basis, optimizing the critical process of aircraft structural evaluation.

As the only approved source of supply for CRPCS, ARINC has everything to assist your NDI shop transitioning from film to CR technology.
