Air
Traffic Management
Airspace is more crowded than ever before. Flight delays and cancellations
are increasing. Airlines and airport operators are under pressure to become
more efficient. Air traffic controllers are working harder to maintain
the margin of safety. And the airline industry is looking for ways to improve
bottom-line profitability. To meet these challenges, airlines and civil
aviation authorities are turning to air traffic management solutions from
ARINC.
Our communications, navigation, surveillance/air traffic management
(CNS/ATM) system provides the interface between air traffic control
and the aircraft flight crew through a variety of air-to-ground
data link networks. Our system allows the controller and flight
crew to communicate via data link while it simultaneously provides
position information to the controller. This transmitted information
makes for safer, more efficient aircraft operation.
ARINC's Tower Data Link Service (TDLS) allows air traffic controllers
to transmit vital informationquickly and reliably. The FAA
is currently using the system to issue over 350,000 predeparture
clearances every month.
For the U.S. Department of Defense, the need to upgrade aircraft fleets
with CNS/ATM capabilities is imperative. ARINC applies our commercial
solutions to the military's global air traffic management challenges to
modernize aircraft avionics and infrastructure systemsincluding
GPS, navigation warfare, safety modifications, and other upgrades.
