S3 Contract Team with ARINC On Board Wins Space & Missile Defense Initiative Support Award

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Engineering Services, LLC has been named a subcontractor on the team of Huntsville, AL based System Studies & Simulation, Inc. (S3), which was recently awarded one of four prime contracts under the U.S. Army’s SMDIS III (Space and Missile Defense Initiative Support) contract vehicle.
The Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command (SMDC/ARSTRAT) announced the award in 2009.
The S3 Team with ARINC on board will compete under the five-year SMDIS III contract for task orders not to exceed $450 million, total. ARINC was awarded an early Task Order to provide Scientific, Engineering & Technical Assistance (SETA) Services for the U.S. Army Forces Strategic Command at Peterson Air Force Base, CO.

ARINC has a 20-year record of supporting the Colorado Springs, CO. operations of U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command under previous contracts, including SMDIS II.
As the Army Component to US STRATCOM, the mission of SMDC/ARSTRAT serves as the single point of contact for Army space forces; advocates, plans, and conducts space operations; plans, integrates and coordinates global Army missile defense operations; and plans for and assists Army forces supporting STRATCOM’s Global Strike operations.
SMDIS III contractors may perform tasks in Infrastructure, Organization Analysis, Systems Engineering and Systems Integration Analysis; Simulation and Modeling Development; Software Development, Network Development, Emerging Technologies Analysis; Meetings and Conference Organization Support; Staff Support; Space Operations Support, and Homeland Security.
Organizations supported under SMDIS III include USASMDC/ARSTRAT, USSTRATCOM, Northern Command (NORTHCOM), Naval Network and Space Operations Command (NNSOC), Air Force Space Command (AFSPC), Ground Based Mid-Course Missile Defense (GMD), and the Joint National Integration Center (JNIC).
