ARINC to Preview New Commercial Version of Its AIM High-Security System

September 17, 2009

Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated today announced the release of its new AIM Enterprise Security Platform, AIM® ESP. AIM ESP is a robust yet scaled-down version of the powerful AIM® Security Computer System (SCS) which is widely used for security management at U.S. nuclear electric power plants and government installations.

The new AIM ESP will retain key SCS characteristics related to facility monitoring and command & control, along with the open-platform flexibility and scalability commercial customers require. ARINC will introduce and demonstrate the new AIM Enterprise Security Platform at the ASIS 2009 Security Seminar and Exhibits (Booth 1008), September 21-24 in Anaheim, CA.

AIM ESP uses component-based architecture to provide plug-and-play integration for a range of COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) security hardware and software applications. Users may build an effective security platform based on standard requirements for access control, intrusion detection, IP/CCTV surveillance, biometric integration, and third party interfaces—all using COTS equipment and interfaces. This permits a long field life for their systems, without massive change-outs of infrastructure.

“With the new AIM ESP product from ARINC, our enterprise customers will no longer be held hostage by proprietary platforms,” states Frank Koren, ARINC AIM ESP Product Director. “For the first time ever, enterprises will be able to manage their own migration to newer types of security technologies, at their own pace, and according to their available budgets.”

AIM ESP also provides security integrators with a “technology bridge” for customers who desire a newer and open security enterprise environment while maximizing the return on their existing investment in security infrastructure.

Tim Ciocco, ARINC Director of Security Systems, said AIM ESP is an optimum solution for educational and industrial campuses, aviation, chemical, utilities, and critical commercial facilities. “It should be considered for any site where quick deployment and straightforward integration with existing infrastructure are primary concerns,” states Ciocco. “In addition, any facility with changing security needs, or where fast response to security threats is vital, should consider the ESP open-platform solution.”

The ASIS Annual Seminar and Exhibits is the world's most comprehensive educational and networking event for the security industry, offering high-quality educational sessions and exhibits, and attended by some 900 security product providers and 22,000 security professionals. Founded as the American Society for Industrial Security, ASIS International is today the pre-eminent organization for security professionals, dedicated to increasing their effectiveness and productivity through educational programs and materials and internationally accredited certification programs.
