ARINC Outlines New Tools & Techniques for DoD to Fight Obsolescence and Counterfeit Parts
August 27, 2009
Annapolis, Maryland—Three defense systems experts from ARINC Incorporated will explore a range of new ideas for the sustainment of military systems, from detecting counterfeit electronics to reducing the effects of obsolescence, at the Diminishing Manufacturing Sources and Material Shortages (DMSMS) & Standardization Conference 2009, September 21-24 in Orlando, Florida.
ARINC will be active in several conference venues, drawing on multiple products and services from its portfolios on Total Life Cycle Management (TLCM), DMSMS Operations and Processes, and Reliability and Maintainability.
“This is a premier event for the support of DoD weapons systems, offering an unmatched opportunity for depot and sustainment managers to learn quickly—both from ARINC and directly from other customers using these techniques,” says Walt Tomczykowski, ARINC Director of Life Cycle Management and Support.
At ARINC Booth 304, experts Charles Marshall and Robin Brown will discuss the continued development of the successful course, “Performing Proactive DMSMS Management,” as well as a new training course, “Counterfeiting Awareness,” developed for the Defense Acquisition University and NAVAIR.
On Monday Sept. 21, Charles Marshall will provide two levels of DMSMS training, presenting the instructor-led version of “DMSMS for Technical Professionals” in a morning session, and previewing the course, “Performing Proactive DMSMS Management” in an afternoon session on behalf of the DOD DMSMS Working Group, and the Defense Logistics Agency DMSMS IST.
At the DMSMS Program Support technical session Thursday, Sept. 24, Robin Brown will present her paper “Proactive Obsolescence Management Throughout the Acquisition Process.” Also on Thursday, Walt Tomczykowski will serve as Session Chair for presentations at the Sustainment and Rapid Re-engineering session.
ARINC recently finished a new edition of the SD-22 DOD DMSMS Guidebook, developed for the Defense Standardization Program Office (DSPO). The new Guidebook will be available at a number of government booths at the Conference.
As the official sponsor of the conference’s Cyber Café, ARINC invites all attendees to make good use of their time and stay connected without leaving the exhibit hall, with convenient networking and communications available right on the show floor. More information about the Conference is available at www.dmsms2009.com.
