ARINC's Miami Office Schedules First Communications Conference for Cargo Airlines
August 19, 2009
Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated today announced a new industry conference, Cargo Airlines Communications Workshop 2009, to be held on Wednesday September 23, in Miami, Florida.
“Cargo airlines around the globe already know and use ARINC’s cost-effective HF Voice radio service,” states Mike Dufton, Senior Sales Director for ARINC Commercial Aviation Sales. “In addition, we want to share with them the many benefits of other communications solutions in our portfolio, such as HF Datalink, Iridium Voice and Data services, and Global Cargo Tracking,”
The workshop will feature presentations on eight technologies by ARINC staff and representatives from other firms. The day’s agenda is designed to benefit airline operations staff, IT staff, and communications personnel, according to Mike Ramirez, Account Director at ARINC’s Miami Office.
One featured topic will be ARINC’s new PASSageSM system, which extends the reach of portable ground radio systems. “PASSage is an interoperability network solution that enables all ground operations personnel to freely communicate, whether using radio, phone, Voice over IP (VoIP), or Push-To-Talk (PTT)—either locally or remote. That can streamline communications, save a lot of time and reduce mistakes,” says Ramirez.
ARINC’s ACARS® VHF Data Link messaging solution has been the industry’s standard for more than 30 years. “But data link does more than help carriers coordinate operations,” says Ramirez. “It can help them comply with regulatory requirements as well. And data link gives the cockpit text messages they can save, print or review at any time. This is a great advantage over voice, since many cargo operators need a record of communications but have no access to printers on the ramps.
An agenda for the workshop can be found at: http://www.arinc.com/customers/meetings/miami_cargo/conference_agenda.html
The event will take place at the Sofitel Miami Hotel, 5800 Blue Lagoon Drive, Miami, FL 33126. There is no fee, and lunch will be provided. Attendees must register in advance by Monday, September 21, at www.arinc.com/cf/forms/miami_cargo_workshop.cfm. The hotel contact is Samuel Expinoza: samuel.espinoza@sofitel.com (+1 305.503.8312).
